Monferrato – UNESCO World Heritage Site

At the meeting of the World Heritage Committee which was held in Doha, Qatar from 15 to 25 June 2014, the Viticultural Landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato were recognized as an integral part of the World Heritage, attributing the exceptional universal value to the cultural landscape Piedmontese.

The registration of the site in the World Heritage List brings Italy to the 50th national site recognized by UNESCO, an important challenge for the nation and, in particular, for Piedmont which today has the opportunity to highlight of the entire world its beauties, its landscapes, its historical-cultural values.

The success of the candidacy proposal was determined by the participation and collaboration of the institutions involved and the citizens, which saw the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism deployed at the forefront, as coordinator and technical-scientific support, the Piedmont Region, promoter of the initiative and the Association of Viticultural Landscapes of Piedmont, contact person and manager of the site, the Provinces of Alessandria, Asti and Cuneo.
